OAT BISCUITS, EASY AND QUICK RECIPE

This oat biscuits recipe is one of the easiest and tastiest ways to eat oats: One of the most complete and balanced cereals you can find!

Moreover, the raisins or berries add a very tasty touch to the biscuits. Although if you love chocolate, you can change the raisins for chocolate chips and enjoy chocolate oat biscuits.

It is a super simple and easy recipe! From the moment you decide to start making them, it will only take you half an hour to have this crunchy and flavourful biscuits!

These oat biscuits can be eaten as breakfast or as a snack. They are perfect to leave the house with them and eat anytime, anywhere!

Just mix the dry ingredients on one side, melt the butter and mix it with the liquid ingredients on the other side, and mix it all together again. With this, you will obtain a paste that, using a spoon or just your hands, you will place on the tray forming circles and bake until golden brown.

Oat Biscuits Final Product

And once they have cooled, do not forget to store them in an airtight container (to prevent them from getting wet or losing their crunchiness) and eat them whenever you like it.

Be careful, though, because if you keep them in a very accessible place, they may not last at all!

These oat biscuits have wheat flour as an ingredient, but if you want, you can substitute it with rice flour (in a 1-to-1 ratio) to make them gluten-free. Moreover, you can change butter, milk and honey for vegan ingredients (vegetable milk, maple syrup, etc) and you will have vegan oat biscuits.

You can also use this Flapjacks recipe (a delicious kind of British granola bar) if you want to use oat flakes in another recipe.

The quantities used are to make about 12 biscuits, but if you double the quantities of the ingredients, for a little more effort, you will have twice as many biscuits!

OAT BISCUITS

INGREDIENTS (For 12 biscuits)

Oat Biscuits. Ingredients used
  • 75 g oat flakes
  •  75 g wheat flour
  • 75 g butter
  • 50 g sugar
  • 30 g milk
  • 30 g raisins or dried berries
  • 1 tablespoon or sachet of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

PREPARATION

Preheat the oven to 180 ºC. Heat up and down, without fan. Place baking parchment on a baking tray.

Add the whole flour to a bowl. Mix it with baking powder, oats, sugar and raisins or dried berries. You have to get a fairly homogeneous mixture. although you should not put a lot of effort into it either since we will mix them again with the liquid ingredients later. This phase aims to achieve a good distribution of the baking powder.

Melt the butter in a small pan or in the microwave (in both cases be careful not to heat too much the butter).

Blend the butter with the honey and milk. Add them to the dry ingredients and mix until everything is well combined.

You have to get a homogeneous dough, without traces of flour on the walls of the bowl and in which the different ingredients cannot be distinguished (except the raisins or red fruits, which will be clearly seen).

Take a spoonful of dough or use a scale to obtain biscuits of similar size. This recipe weights around 345 g of dough, so you can make:

  • 9 biscuits, 38 g each
  • 10 biscuits, 34 g each
  • 12 biscuits, 28 g each
  • Cookies with the weight you want!

I have decided to make 12 vegan biscuits, but you can make them however you want! You only have to take into account that they have similar sizes, so they will have homogeneous baking. Oh! And the tray size you will place them in.

Before placing them on the tray, finish rounding the dough with another spoon or simply balling the dough using your own hands (it is quite easy as the recipe has oil, so the dough will not stick in your hands), place the dough in the tray and flatten it a little, but not too much to avoid them from being too flat and sticking together.

Bake for 10 – 15 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown.

Once baked, remove the tray from the oven and let the biscuits cool on a wire rack. Now all you have to do is enjoy them!
